Kicking off My Trip to Washington

With high hopes of posting while in flight, I was unsuccessful. Bummer! I have had trouble connecting to the internet since I arrived. Luckily, this morning I snagged a free second with a good internet connection! Even though I didn't get this up as planned, I still wanted to post it - better late than never, right?

I thought writing my first blog post would be the most difficult, I was wrong. Writing my second post is definitely harder. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head that I can't wait to share with you, I just don't know where to start...hmmmm...

Many of you know that I will be am visiting my family until April 15th. In fact, I am writing this post at 10,000 feet. Isn't technology great! I am in flight to Denver (enjoying a Bailey's on the rocks), where I will connect to my Seattle bound flight.

Like a little kid, I get so excited to arrive at my final destination! I can't wait to give my dad, step-mom, and little sister a big hug! Skype and Facetime just aren't the same as a great big bear hug! On the flip side, it was hard to say bye-bye to Mark for 12 whole days!

Yep, that's right...I will be gone for 12 days! Since my trip is longer than usual, my itinerary for this trip is a little bit more complicated than most of my visits home. The plan after landing this evening, is to go to my dad's house and have a nice family dinner. My dad is cooking his famous salmon...YUM! It is out of this world! I have tried to learn his secrets, but have never quite mastered it. Now that I am salivating just thinking of tonight's dinner, let's get back on track...where was I? Oh yeah, my itinerary...

In the morning, I plan to drive to my mom's house, which is in Eastern Washington (Tri-Cities to be exact). It is a 3-3 1/2 hour drive depending on the weather and how fast I drive :). Luckily, I already have an upbeat playlist ready for the drive! The Pitch Perfect soundtrack is definitely going to be blasting!

I haven't seen my mom in over a year and a half, so I am beyond excited to see her and my maternal side of the family. My mom has five brothers and sisters, needless to say I have a lot of cousins, aunts and uncles to catch up with. I will spend 6 days with her, which I am sure will whiz by in a flash. She has already planned all kinds of things for us to do...going to antique stores, thrift shops, crafting together, and a family party on Sunday. Hopefully, we can even find time to get a mother-daughter manicure and pedicure - nothing wrong with a little pampering! It will be 6 days of quality mother-daughter time, but have no fear...I will be snapping pics left and right, and of course I will share them!

After visiting my mom, I will hit the road again back towards Seattle. If all goes as planned, I should be back at my dad's mid-day on April 10th. I will spend the remainder of my trip with my dad, step-mom, and sister. As of now, the plan is to drive up to Vancouver, Canada on the 11th and spend two nights. My one request was to stop at the Tulip Festival, either on the way up to Vancouver or on the way back to Seattle. I haven't been to the tulip festival in years! It is amazing! Miles and miles of tulips, tulips of every color. Mother nature's beauty as far as the eye can see. I can't wait to share the pictures with you guys! There I go again, veering off topic...

Anyhow, I haven't been to Vancouver in years either. I am excited to see how it has grown and changed. It will be a fun mini-vacation for us to take together. We haven't gone on a little trip as a family since I was in college, I wish Mark was able come! I am not exactly sure of our plans while in Vancouver, but I know we will enjoy being together and creating more treasured memories together.

Goodness! The skies are quite rough this afternoon...
I finished my Bailey's and now it's time to wrap up this post! I look forward to sharing my trip as it unfolds!

Keeping my fingers crossed for a consistent internet connection for the rest of my trip! I have so much to share with you guys!!

Talk to you soon!!
